Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

Happy Monday All,

We have been socked in with fog, never ending clouds and drear the couple weeks and I think it is starting to take it's toll on my endorphins or the lack there of. My hubby took me to the mountains for a day trip on Saturday and we found the SUN! Oh what a feeling it was to breath in the fresh clean air and to feel the warmth of the sun on our backs; and to have to head to higher elevations to find it was sort of ironic. I wish I could have brought the sun back with us but unfortunately I'm here hoping for Spring to show it's face soon!

So in light of the dreary day, I thought I would throw together a small list of Spring time necessities, wants and desires.

1) Iced Tea... There is nothing that screams Spring Time more than a fresh pitcher of ice tea. I love mine strong and unsweetened... unless you want to throw some fresh lemon or fruit in there!

2) Gap has the cutest sweater dresses right now for little girls. With leggings or tights it's the perfect spring time outfit. I'm really digging the stripes and poke a' dots this season!

3) Robins Egg Blue... I am in LOVE with this color recently. I am on the search for dining rooms chairs in this color as we speak. Please send over any recommendations you may run across!

4) Nike is coming out with some super cute new colors in their shoe line. I love all the pastel colors including these Nike Flex running shoes in pink and mint green.

5) Kelti has yet to own a rain coat, mostly because where we live we really don't deal with too much rain but this one above from Target is absolutely to die for!

6) I am an lover of all fruits and veggies and so is Kelti! (Except for peas and pineapple, we each despise both) Can't wait till all that is stocked in my fridge is fresh, large amounts of raspberries, mango's, peaches, grapes, etc, etc, the list can go on and on!

Fingers crossed for some sunshine!

Green Juice Recipe

This is my all time "Go-To" drink! Breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, it fits the bill for anytime. Kelti absolutely loves them, which is nice because what one year old likes to sit down and eat a cup of spinach. Well not mine, but she will drink it!

  • 2 cups Baby Spinach (You can also substitute with Kale or Chard or a combination)
  • 1/2 cup Frozen Fruit (We LOVE Mango's)
  • 4 oz. Vanilla Protein Shake
  • Blend!

In experimenting, I have found that we most enjoy the combination of baby spinach and mango's though any tropical fruit is really good too... peaches, pineapple, etc. Berries were not our favorite I think mostly because of the tartness and the consistency that the seeds in the berries bring to the frothy drink. We have tried many protein shakes and found that this one from Wal-Mart is our absolute favorite because it really doesn't have much flavor to it like some of those slim fast like shakes.

We blend using a Magic Bullet. It is really easy to get the perfect cup size without wasting any ingredients and really easy to clean up quickly for use the next day.

Experiment and enjoy!

Morning Madness

Morning All,

I thought I would share our little morning routine schedule; I call it a routine but sometimes it is just our normal Morning Madness!

4:15am - Ring Ring, The alarm goes off and if it had a face I would probably punch it! We are currently in our second round of trying to move Kelti from our bed to the crib. (The first round was when she was about 7 months and until then she slept in her bassinet from the day we had brought her home. Well, we failed and she started sleeping in the middle of our bed. SO onto the second round.) So some nights she will sleep soundly with only mommy peeking over at the video camera to make sure all is well and then drifting back off to sleep. Other nights, she will toss and turn, cry for her missing Binky 5 different times and before we know it, by 2:30am she is again in mommy and daddy's bed just so we can get a couple decent hours of sleep. Now off my soap box and back onto the schedule...

4:30am - I actually get up.. I leave Luke and Kelti sleeping and I head to the gym.

6:15am - I get home, kiss Luke goodbye as he is running out the door to go to work and sometimes if I am lucky Kelti will still be sleeping and I can get a shower in before she wakes up. Other times, she is up and meets me at the door with a tired, "Hi Mommy!".

6:15 - 7:00am - This time is used to shower, hopefully just by myself but if Kelti is up she likes to join me by crawling into the shower, PJ's, diaper and all, then wants me to pick her up. Showering with a baby in your arms is a hard task, try it sometime. Mommy tries to quickly do her makeup, dry her hair and get dressed all the while Kelti is wanting to eat the lipstick and taking my underwear out of the drawer and wearing them around her neck like a scarf. Next we get Kelti ready! Diaper change, clothes, hair combed because this kid has the WORST bedhead I have ever seen! And then we watch the clock or mickey mouse and wait for auntie to walk through the door.

7:00am - My sister arrives, YAY! She watches Kelti during the day, sometimes at our house, sometimes at other houses depending on which family she is Nannying for that day. But she always comes early to help me get breakfast going for myself and Kelti or to help me finish getting ready if my hair happens to still be in a towel.

7:30am - Out the door and off to work! Ahhh, missing my little girly already. :(

Happy Friday all! Lets hope we can all perhaps sleep in until 7am tomorrow. Yay for Saturdays!

Follow Kelti's Little Haven! Now on Bloglovin!

13 Months

I know, I skipped over the 12 month update but I will throw together a ream of pictures of Kelti's extravagant birthday weekend from the failed birthday pancakes to the cake smash. But for now... Kelti's 13 month update!

Weighing in at 20 lbs. 13 oz, we have transitioned to a front facing car seat! She loves it and I can't complain, it is super nice to see what she is doing at all times, sleeping, talking or throwing cereal all over the place.

Her first top tooth finally broke through a couple weeks ago after already 4 bottom teeth! It was really weird seeing her laugh with just one top tooth but just last night, we spotted the second top tooth coming in and another right next to it as well!

I can't take much of the credit for Kelti being such a genius child (though don't we all say that about our children) because her auntie teaches her most of it, but she is literally 13 months going on 13 years! She has dozens of words that she says including, doggy, mommy, daddy, auntie, grandma (pronounced gama), grandpa (gampa), happy, oooookay, yea, ouchy, water (wawa), bottle (baba), Hi (which is one of her favorite words), Bye bye (pronounced Buu Bye) and names of numerous friends and family. Anything you ask her to say she tries to say, though some come out more clear than others.

Eating Habits... HORRIBLE! I would say if I could know then what I know now, I would not have started trying to feed my kid by chasing her around the living room with a spoon, feeding her in the car, grocery cart to keep her happy etc. She has never come to like her highchair let alone sit in it for a full meal. She gets super cranky if she is hungry but other than that, she has no real desire to eat. She however does love her yogurt bites, when she sees the bag in her diaper bag she goes bonkers, pulls them out and eats them like candy. She goes up to the fridge and cries "Apple", this is really any fruit in the bottom fruit drawer. We are starting to put cows milk in her bottles and hopefully will be wined off the formula by the time our small stock pile runs out sometime soon.

She is currently in 12 month clothes though we got quite a bit 18 month clothes for Christmas. Some actually fit her pretty good, though others look like they may not fit her until next fall. She was out of newborn clothes within the first week of having her home, 0-3 months shortly after, 3-6 lasted her for a while though (I think I started dressing her in 3-6 months before I really needed too) and to be honest she really didn't own much 9 month clothes, we went straight to 12 month which she has been in for a while.

Walking... I mean ... Running! Enough Said.

Happy 13 months Little, we love you bunches and bunches!!

Organize and Prioritize

Happy Monday! Wasn't it nice to have a weekend without the hustle and bustle of the holidays?! I'm telling ya, this weekend we totally relaxed and recouped with a family outing/ mini road trip on Saturday and Football, Family, and Coronita's on Sunday.

I was so excited to put away my 2013 Planner full of appointments, plans, and payments along with my festive Christmas Notes Journal and pull out my 2014 Planner and my clean, simple and NEW Notes Journal for the coming year! Opening up a new journal with fresh, white, crisp  pages just reminds me that this is a new year, new beginning, clean slate. Lets get the party started shall we!

One might ask, why the two different books? Well first off, I carry them with me everywhere I go so they need to fit into my purse, diaper bag, lunch box, whatever it may be. I have found that the planners that have enough room for a large notes section, tend to 1) be expensive, 2) way to big to fit in my bag and 3) just have way to many charts and extra pages that I never need or use. The notes journal is just that, for everything from my grocery list, to my To-Do lists, random phone numbers, recipes, you name it! It is my mind on paper, check marks, scribbles, highlighted the whole nine yards. Then I use my planner for appointments, play-dates, dinner plans, and to keep track of my bills, what is due and what is left in my bank accounts. I have started my To-Do lists and listed my already promised appointments and am excited to start to slowly organize my chaotic self now that this holiday season is officially over. I would love to hear how you all keep yourselves organized throughout the year!

Welcoming 2014!

For some reason, this year over any in the past, I am viewing this turn of the year as a clean slate, a fresh start, time to make changes and RELAX. My word for 2014 is.... Relax. 2013 brought on many new challenges, lifestyle changes, joy and chaos. Looking back I wish I would have just slowed down and really enjoyed every moment, every new word Kelti learned, every new move she made.

So this year, I am going to not worry about the dust bunnies in the corner, the birthday party that I forgot to buy a present for, the bank account, or the yogurt bites tossed all over the kitchen floor. I am going to take a step back, relax and enjoy the moments.

I will make 2014 count by...simply slowing down. Movie dates on the living room floor as a family, writing everything on my mind down from the grocery bill to the play date that was scheduled, playing music until we can't shake it anymore, and perhaps after the day is over and the babe is sound asleep, enjoy a glass of wine on the kitchen floor with my hubby as we pick up yogurt bites together. 2014 here I come!
